In the transition to a new phase of life, the need often arises for a home that gathers experience while making room for new memories. This project was shaped for a couple seeking a more low-maintenance way of living, without letting go of quality, calm, and comfort.
Beauty has been a guiding premise throughout the design, drawn from the surrounding nature and the coastal breeze, and interpreted through spatial relationships, material choices, and light.
The 110-square-metre penthouse occupies the two uppermost floors of a waterfront residential building in Bjergsted. With panoramic views of sea, mountains, parkland, and city, the location became a central point of departure for the design. The surrounding landscape is drawn into the interior through carefully composed sightlines, while natural light moves freely through the spaces in rhythm with changing weather and seasons.
The floor plan balances open, social areas with more secluded zones. The main level brings together kitchen and living room in a continuous composition, where a bespoke bookshelf functions as a subtle room divider. The lower level is dedicated to private functions, with bedrooms featuring en-suite bathrooms, a laundry room, and an elegant wine room.
The material palette is restrained and timeless. Wood, stone, and textiles create warmth and tactile contrast, while carefully considered ceiling details with mouldings and panels add depth and character. In the bathrooms, the expression continues through wood panelling, creating a comforting and enveloping atmosphere.
This home is created for the next chapter of life — a place where new frameworks allow new memories to take shape, while traces of an earlier life are carried forward. A home that offers security in what is familiar, and freedom to create something new.
